Batman Fans,

Without a doubt, one of the biggest, most highly anticipated films for summer 2012 is The Dark Knight Rises. We revealed the first three characters for our 2012 The Dark Knight Rises Movie Masters series at New York Toy Fair in February, and the buzz has been amazing! Along with the great sculpts for Batman, Bane and Catwoman, everyone is talking about the Collect-and-Connect? projecting Batsignal.

Well, now it’s time to introduce two more figures in our 2012 line-up: Gotham City Police Department Blake and Alfred!

Hard-as-nails Officer Blake is a brand-new character to the Christopher Nolan trilogy, and we can't wait to bring him to life in our Movie Masters® series. And you know we're beyond stoked about Alfred! Fans (and us!) have been asking for him for years, and he's a big addition to the line.

The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters July 20th, 2012!

REVIEW: Young Justice Season 1 Volume 3

For those who haven't seen the show, it is AMAZING! The action is excellently choreographed and maintains a reality that surpasses most current blockbusters, and I'm not just hyping it, the fights are unique and have a weight and reality to them while feeling fresh and like we haven't seen them done this way before. The characters are each well-defined and unique and the character development is well balanced, giving us a bit of new insight each episode as well as having some building love interests just to keep things fun. The stories are drawn right from the comics but are given a dimension of reality that finds them feeling adult. The animation is top notch and overall this show breathes new life into the DC Universe, which has been feeling a bit stale for most since Justice League Unlimited ended.

Volume 3 has four episodes (#9-12) from the first season, and features the kids facing Psimon (of the Fearsome Five), Lex Luthor, Ra's al Ghul, Sportsmaster, Cheshire, the villains at Belle Reve Penitentiary, and Red Tornado's "siblings" Red Torpedo and Red Inferno. The kids are also seen in their high school environments with cameo appearances from other DC teens like Mal Duncan and Karen Beecher (from the original Teen Titans), Wendy and Marvin, (yes, THAT Wendy and Marvin, but NO Wonderdog), and Bette Kane and Barbara Gordon. The only Special Feature is a Digital Comic Book reprint of a few pages and panels from Young Justice #0 that you can page through screen by screen. For those of you who don't collect comics, this particular issue takes place just before the end of Episode #2, so it's almost like watching storyboards of deleted scenes.

Overall, if you enjoy this series, you will enjoy the DVD. The only real negative is the DVD release strategy of putting out episodes four at a time.

Batman named greatest comic hero

Batman's utility belt doesn't really compare to the superpowers of Spider-Man? and Superman, but Gotham City's caped crusader has nonetheless been named the greatest comic hero of all time.

The readers of Comic Heroes magazine voted for Batman, the alias of billionaire Bruce Wayne, as their top comic hero, ahead of the second-placed Spider-Man? and the third-placed Superman. The magazine is not the first to rank heroes from the world of comics: in 2008 Empire magazine put Superman top, followed by Batman and John Constantine, the exorcist created by Alan Moore, while the Man of Steel also topped a list from IGN.

Batman "doesn't have superpowers; he gets by with his mind, his wit and his physical abilities. He's dark, conflicted and tragic, yet never less than the best of us. He's got the best costume and the finest gadgets," said the editor. "His rogues' gallery is the most frightening and freakish collection of villains ever assembled; a cavalcade of criminality unmatched in modern comics. He's also strong enough to fit almost any story, being constantly remoulded by writers and artists since his creation in 1939."
